A Relationship between the Social Support, Emotional Intelligence, Depression, and Health Promotion Behaviors of Nursing College Students

Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship in social support, emotional intelligence, depression, and health promotion behaviors of nursing college students, and to establish basic data for the development of a nursing intervention program for health promotion behaviors.

Methods: This study verified the mean and standard deviation of the social support, emotional intelligence, depression, and the health promotion behaviors of 203 nursing students in J city from November to December 2019. This study analyzed the correlation among the variables through Pearson correlation coefficient.

Results: The results showed health promotion behaviors had a positive correlation with social support and emotional intelligence, but it had a negative correlation with depression.

Conclusion: This study will provide the basic data for a follow-up research on the social support, emotional intelligence, depression and health promotion behaviors of nursing college students, and is expected to serve as the basic data for developing nursing intervention programs for health promotion behaviors in the future.
